These settings allow you to fine-tune how QuickOrders are generated from measurement reports.

Shingle Waste Factor %

How Roof Orders are calculated from Measurement Reports

Data Source Key:
Blue = Measurement Report Data (Steep & low slope areas in squares; ridges, hips, valley, eaves, rakes, and flashing in lnft; steep slope defined as 3/12+; low slope defined as 1/12 - 2/12)
Red = Ordering from Measurement Prefs (this page)
Purple = QuickOrder Template

Shingles (sqs) = (steep slope squares) * (1 + Shingle Waste Factor)
Cap (bdls) = (ridge + hip)/(cap lnft/bdl), round up to next bundle
Starter (bdls) = (steep slope eave + steep slope rakes (if preferred))/(starter lnft/bdl), round up to next bundle
I&W (rolls) = (steep slope eave*(courses@eaves) + valley (if not using mineral surface in QuickOrder Template) + steep slope rakes (if preferred))/(65ft/roll)
Felt (rolls) = ((steep slope squares) – (I&W squares, less one roll))/(sq/roll)
Mineral Surface (rolls) = valley/(33 ft/roll) (if using mineral surface in QuickOrder Template)
Drip Edge (pcs) = ((steep slope eaves + steep slope rakes)/(10ft/pc)) + (Extra sticks of drip/job)
Ridge Vent (pcs) = (ridge)/(lnft/pc), rounded up to next pc Note if you want to replace or use cans, you must count them and add them to your order manually. Also note, intake ventilation is not calculated.
Coil Nails (ctn) = (steep slope quares)/(squares per ctn of nails), rounded up
Staples (ctn) = (steep slope squares)/(squares per ctn of staples), rounded up
Pipe Flashing (ea) = Default # of soil pipe flashings per job check the photos in the report and add more if necessary
Step Flashing (bdl) = flashing/(33lnft/bdl)
Caulk (tubes) = (steep slope squares)/(squares per tube of caulk), rounded up
SA Cap = (low slope squares) SA Cap is a one sq roll
SA Base = (low slope squares)/(2sq/roll)
Galvanized Rake Edge (pcs) = ((low slope eaves + low slope rakes)/(10ft/pc))
Asphalt Primer Spray (can) = (low slope squares)/2

NOTE that items you have chosen not to show on your QuickOrder Template will NOT be calculated for your Roof Order.
NOTE that the following items are NOT calculated from measurements, and must be manually added to the QuickOrder if desired: soil pipe flashings & covers, OSB, can vents, intake ventilation. Additionally, HOVER reports do not calculate rake edge for low slope facets.

  • Ordering from Measurements Preferences
    • Shingle Waste Factor - The percentage of extra shingles that should be added to the job beyond the structure's exact measurement, rounded up to the next bundle. Ex: if set to 10%, then a job measured at 100sq will take 125sq of shingles.
    • Use I&W Protection at the Rakes - Ice & Water Protection is figured as running two courses at all eaves and one course up valleys (if not using Mineral Surface). It can optionally be figured as also being run up the rakes if checked here.
    • Use Starter at the Rakes - Starter is figured as running one course at all eaves. It can optionally be figured as also being used up the rakes if checked here.
    • Squares per Ctn of Coil Nails - The number of squares a carton of coil nails will cover. If set to 0, no coil nails will be added. Ex: if set to 20, then a 20sq or smaller job will take one ctn of coil nails; a job of 21-40sq will take two ctns, etc.
    • Squares per Ctn of Staples - The number of squares a carton of staples will cover. If set to 0, no staples will be added. Ex: if set to 20, then a 20sq or smaller job will take one ctn of staples; a job of 21-40sq will take two ctns, etc.
    • Default number of soil pipe flashings per job - how many soil pipe flashings you would like added to each job.
    • Squares per Tube of Caulk - The number of squares a tube of caulk will cover. If set to 0, no caulk will be added. Ex: if set to 20, then a 20sq or smaller job will take one tube of caulk; a job of 21-40sq will take two tubes, etc.
